Tacoma Rental Housing Code
On November 20, 2018, the Tacoma City Council passed the Rental Housing Code providing protections for tenants and specific rules for landlords in Tacoma.
The City of Tacoma has created a Rental Housing Code Information Packet.
The packet explains the new protections for tenants and the roles and responsibilities for both landlords and tenants.
Please note that there are two new rules that the Tacoma Housing Authority is exempt from:
- A 60-day notice to increase rent does not apply to THA-assisted households. We provide a 30-day notice for an increase in the tenant portion of the rent because those increases are governed by program rules.
- Relocation assistance does not apply to THA-assisted households. This is because THA already has a relocation procedure in place.
