Established in 1940, Tacoma Housing Authority provides high-quality, stable and sustainable housing and supportive services to people in need. It does this in ways that help them prosper and help our communities develop equitably.
THA maintains a portfolio of more than 1,800 dwelling units and serves more than 4,500 families through our housing, voucher, property-based subsidy, and client support programs. We develop and manage real estate, provide rental housing, and help families pay the rent in the private rental market in partnership with thousands of private landlords. We also deliver supportive services to help families succeed as “tenants, parents, students, wage earners and builders of assets who can live without assistance.”
THA seeks to do its work in ways that help our community be an “attractive place to live, work, attend school, shop and play,” and that help Tacoma be “safe, vibrant, prosperous, attractive and just.”
Property Portfolio

THA owns and manages a varied portfolio of properties. They are multifamily properties, single-family homes, and properties we use for business purposes.
Our residential properties can be found in nearly every Tacoma neighborhood, and vary in design, size, financing, and levels of affordability. They include seven apartment buildings reserved for seniors and persons with disabilities, six developments for families, a crisis residential center for youth facing homelessness, and the community of New Salishan.
Housing is grouped by Family Properties and Senior/Disabled Properties.
