THA has agreed to attach some of its vouchers to units in specific apartment buildings owned by for-profit or non-profit private owners. The assisted families pay the same rent that they would in our regular voucher program.
In the project-based voucher program, the housing authority has a contract with housing providers to provide rental assistance on behalf of families who live in specific housing developments or units. That assistance stays with the unit when a participant moves from the unit.
The waitlists for THA’s project-based vouchers are managed by the properties themselves, and referrals are sent to THA as openings become available.
