NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD
The Tacoma Housing Authority (THA) invites residents, voucher holders, partners and community members to comment on the following proposed changes:
THA is proposing a change to how updates to how reasonable accommodation denials are handled.
Currently, whenever a reasonable accommodation is denied, the request is automatically sent to the Reasonable Accommodation Review Committee (RARC). This occurs even if a household does not request a review.
THA is proposing that in the future clients make a request for the RARC to review the accommodation request when their request is denied. This will ease administrative burden and allow the committee to review cases where the household has formally requested a review.
The policy change is outlined below:
| Original Policy Language | Proposed Policy Language |
|---|---|
| THA’s Reasonable Accommodation Review Committee will review all denials and all appeals from approvals of alternative accommodation. | If THA denies a request for an accommodation the family can request RARC review within ten (10) business days of the denial notice. |
