| | Education and Training Tacoma Housing Authority values our clients' need for higher education, training programs and advocacy. Below is a list of public schools, colleges and programs geared towards building our THA families' educational goals and providing awareness to support them in achieving self-sufficiency and independence. Local Colleges Education and Training Classes Tacoma Housing Authority, through a contract with Bates Technical College, offers several programs that focus on education and job training to residents at the Family Investment Center at Salishan. Classes include Adult Basic Education (ABE/GED), basic computer literacy, and certification training in Mortgage Loan Processing. -GED Classes are currently held at the Salishan Family Investment Center- Monday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. -Public Housing Vocational Classes which focus on specific occupational skills- Information Sessions will be held at the Salishan Family Investment Center: Thursday - January 17th, 24th and 31st at 10 am and 6 pm. Classes will begin in February English as a Second Language Tacoma Housing Authority, through a contract with Bates Technical College, offers Basic English (ESL) instruction at the Family Investment Center at Salishan. This course is highly individualized. It includes basic computer literacy.
