How to Apply

Our Waiting List is currently closed.

So many families need housing help that THA cannot give vouchers to more than a fraction of them. As a result, THA keeps a waiting list of people who have applied for a voucher. THA only opens the list for more people to sign up once every few years and then only for a few days. Even so, thousands of people usually sign up.

When THA opens the list for more applicants, it advertises in advance in the newspaper, on this web site and in notices around the city. When it opens the list, THA will hand out applications at its offices or at other places around town, such as social services agencies and libraries, or from this web site.

Check our website periodically to find out if the waiting list is coming open.

Applicants who get on the waiting list will have a long wait until they come to the top. While they wait, they must report in writing any change in household circumstances or address to keep their application current. THA will contact them every now and then to confirm their continued interest. If THA does not get a reply, it will remove an applicant from the list. When the applicant’s name comes to the top of the list, THA will contact him or her to visit the office. If THA’s letter comes back in the mail or if the applicant does not respond, THA will remove him or her from the list. This is why it is important that applicants on the waiting list keep in touch with THA.
