Employment Benefits

Tacoma Housing Authority offers an excellent benefits package for regular, full-time positions. See below for a detailed listing of benefits. Benefits listed are for full-time, regular employees. Part-time (24 hours per week or more), regular employees are eligible for some full benefits and some pro-rated benefits.

Benefits that extend to dependents include domestic partners wherever the carrier allows.

Medical and Vision
THA pays most of the premium for full family coverage (employee, spouse, and dependent children). The employee is responsible for $50.00 per month. THA offers two plans to choose from:

• United Employees Benefit Trust (does not include Domestic Partner)
• Group Health (HMO) (includes Domestic Partner)

Dental
THA pays premiums for full family coverage, including orthodontia (employee, spouse, domestic partner, and dependent children.)
• Washington Dental

Standard Insurance Information

Short Term Disability
THA pays premiums for employee coverage. Provides benefits up to two-thirds of weekly compensation not to exceed $ 2,000 per week. Coverage provided by Standard Insurance Company.

Long Term Disability
THA pays premiums for employee coverage. Provides benefits up to two-thirds of monthly compensation not to exceed a monthly benefit of $7,500. Coverage provided by Standard Insurance Company.

Life & Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance Plan
• Covers employee at 1x annual salary. THA pays premiums for employee coverage.

Supplemental Life Insurance Plan (Paid for by Employee)
• Voluntary Life insurance available for employee, spouse and children.
• Additional coverage up to 6x annual income for employee up to 300,000
• Spouse, domestic partner, and dependent children coverage also available

Other Benefits

Leave Benefits
(Full-time, regular employees (part-time, regular employees are pro-rated)

Annual leave: Temporary and probationary employees do not accrue annual leave during the period of such status. However, should a temporary or probationary employee be given status as a regular employee without a break in the period of employment, then annual leave shall be credited from the date of employment.

Sick leave: Sick leave accrues at 1 day per month, 12 days per year. Probationary employees are eligible to use any accrued sick leave during their probationary period. Temporary employees do not accrue sick leave during the period of such status. However, should a temporary employee be given status as a regular employee without a break in the period of employment, then sick leave shall be credited from the date of employment.

Legal holidays: Ten paid holidays per year

Personal holidays: Two days awarded each calendar year

Washington State Retirement Plan
Participation in the Washington State Retirement System is mandatory.
Both the employer and employee contribute to this plan.

Washington State Deferred Compensation (Voluntary; Employee Paid)
Tax deferred savings plan.

Tax-Free Reimbursement Accounts (Voluntary; Employee Paid)

For eligible health care and child/elder care expenses through Flex-Plan.

Employee Assistance Program
Free confidential counseling, referral, and information services for employee, spouse, and dependent children.
